[09:47]<+camerongray> Hey Craig
[09:47]<+Craig> yo
[10:09]<Immental1200> I played Terraria just now for the first time in months...
[10:09]<Immental1200> Apparently you now need to use a pickaxe to take down wood you placed...
[10:09]<Immental1200> o.O
[10:09]<Immental1200> That's like logic gone to hell.
[10:35]<+Craig> Here
[10:35]<+Craig> Here is a game for Tux2, BC, and you camerongray. http://games.adultswim.com/robot-unicorn-attack-evolution-twitchy-online-game.html

[10:42]<+camerongray> Hey Calum
[10:42]<+camerongray> How's the build :P
[10:43]<+camerongray> I have a vision of Calum sitting in a pile of broken components covered in coolant :P
[10:43]<@Calum> well, I haven't been here for the last 4 hours, at my cousin's for her birthday, so I've only had a few hours on it
[10:43]<@Calum> of which about 2 I've spent removing RAM heatsinks...FML
[10:43]<+camerongray> Ahh
[10:45]<@Calum> Just removed the last ones, need to clean the chips up which is the time consuming part
[10:48]<@Calum> so I haven't actually started the build properly yet
[11:08] * jacky (the_kink@mib-9C8578BA.slsbmd.east.verizon.net) has joined #glitchpc

[11:10]<+camerongray> Hey jamer
[11:11]<+camerongray> jacky*
[11:11]<@jacky> heh
[11:11]<@jacky> I'm glad you detected the difference
[11:11]<@jacky> :)
[11:18]<@Calum> jacky: good evening (afternoon)
[11:18]<@jacky> Calum: good afternoon (evening)
[11:18]<@jacky> :)
[11:22]<@Calum> how goes# it?
[11:44]<jamer> Lol Camerongray
[11:52]<jamer> ive got a good monitor now
[11:58]<@jacky> Calum: sorry.. unexpected visitor... didn't expect to be away from kb this long
[11:58]<@jacky> it goes ok
[11:58]<@jacky> :)
[11:58]<@Calum> no worries
[11:58]<@Calum> good to hear it
[11:59]<@jacky> you?
[11:59]<@jacky> everything going well?
[11:59]<@Calum> yeah, going good, apart from these damn RAM heatspreaders
[11:59]<@Calum> but yeah, definitely going good overall
[12:00]<@jacky> what's up with ram heatspreaders?
[12:00]<@Calum> I'm removing them, and the adhesive they use is a royal pain to remove
[12:01]<@Calum> I did 3 this morning, relatively easily, 15 minutes or so each....the three I've been doing this afternoon, are taking much longer
[12:01]<@jacky> alcohol?
[12:01]<@jacky> fingernail polish remover?
[12:01]<@jacky> what's that other stuff... rats.. can't remember the name...
[12:01]<@Calum> I tried my usual thermal paste remover which is mostly isopropyl, did nothing to shift it. I don't even know if I have any nail polish remover
[12:02]<+camerongray> Surely Cassie will :P
[12:02]<@Calum> she's in London at the minute so I don't know if she has it with her, or if I just can't find it
[12:02]<+camerongray> "CALUM! What did you do to my nail polish remover?" "Removed the heatspreaders" "That stuff costs £100 a bottle" :P
[12:02]<@Calum> hehe
[12:02]<@jacky> heh
[12:02]<Immental1200> Have you tried gently heating them? Hairdryer or something?
[12:02]<Immental1200> Or can you not find that either...
[12:03]<@jacky> Bring out the Ram Hammer! just pound them off!!
[12:03]<@jacky> heh
[12:03]<@Calum> yeah I used a hairdryer to remove the spreaders as it did soften the adhesive but it doesn't make it any easier to remove the remnants
[12:03]<@Calum> just taking a break from it at the minute because I think it's just going to be a case of taking time
[12:03]<Immental1200> Oh...
[12:03]<Immental1200> You're taking THAT bit off
[12:04]<Immental1200> That's always ... fun ...
[12:04]<@Calum> yeah
[12:04]<Immental1200> Didn't realise you'd done all the spreaders
[12:04]<Immental1200> :P
[12:04]<@Calum> I'm so tempted to leave the last bits as they are, because it's not going to make any difference, but I don't really want to cut corners
[12:05]<Immental1200> Regardless of if they make any difference
[12:05]<Immental1200> WHenever you cut corners, it always comes back with a vengeance
[12:05]<@Calum> I also found out that two out of the 6 sticks use different ICs...4 are Micron and 2 are Elpida. Good work. I know they work perfectly anyway so it's no biggie
[12:05]<@Calum> yeah exactly, I just want to do everything perfectly for a change
[12:05]<Immental1200> Did you get the G.Skill 24GB kit?
[12:05]<@Calum> no
[12:05]<Immental1200> 2000Mhz with perfect timings for that board XD
[12:06]<Immental1200> Only cost £1,119 new in 2010...
[12:06]<Immental1200> ;)
[12:06]<@Calum> heh, yeah. We used Dominator GT when we built them back then, because it looked awesome with the board. That was pretty damn expensive too
[12:07]<Immental1200> This stuff was made in co-operation with EVGA and was the first 100% compatible kit on the market that could run at 2000MHz
[12:07]<@Calum> yeah I remember it
[12:09]<@Calum> not really bothered about trying for mega RAM speeds anyway, just going to clock them to around 3.6 and go for 1600 ish on the RAM, needs to be nice and stable
[12:10]<Immental1200> Is anyone good with PrestaShop?
[12:31]<@Calum> the good/bad thing about having a cold, is that it doesn't really matter what you're eating because you can't taste it
[12:31]<@Calum> I now have no idea if I like this soup or not
[12:32]<@jacky> bud id makes your heb all stobbed ub
[12:32]<@Calum> don't know what you mean, ib find
[12:32]<@jacky> hehehe
[12:32]<@Calum> i mean, I'm fineeeee....d
[12:32]<@jacky> (I hope it passes quickly)
[12:33]<+camerongray> lol
[12:33]<@Calum> thanks, it developed this morning in the middle of removing those heatspreaders actually
[12:33]<@Calum> right in the middle of scraping off adhesive and all of a sudden my nose turned into a tap
[12:34]<@jacky> you were probably scraping some kind of exotic polymer, and making all sorts of carcinogenic dust....
[12:34]<@Calum> well, it was nice knowing you guys
[12:35]<@jacky> heh
[12:35]<@Calum> cause of death: Kingston HyperX
[12:35]<+Craig> ?
[12:35]<@jacky> Calum: you want that on your tombstone?
[12:35]<@Calum> sure, why not
[12:35]<@jacky> in assembly?
[12:35]<@Calum> better than death by exploding MSI
[12:41]<jamer> XD
[12:41]<Immental1200> More likely exploding BioStar
[12:42]<@Calum> rather Biostar than MSI
[12:44]<@jacky> http://i1.ytimg.com/vi/TjHOUonZO6U/hqdefault.jpg
[12:44]<@Calum> that looks familiar
[12:44]<@Calum> hehe
[12:44]<@jacky> har
[12:44]<Immental1200> Who's is that?
[12:44]<@jacky> google is my friend
[12:46]<Immental1200> It's the thumbnail for a youtube video...
[12:46]<Immental1200> I want to watch the YouTube video.
[12:47]<@jacky> (see if Calum posted it)
[12:47]<@Calum> oh, I haven't seen that video, I was implying that the PC on fire looks familiar because I've seen a few heh
[12:48]<@jacky> are you joking?
[12:48]<@Calum> no
[12:48]<@jacky> I hope it is obvious that I am...
[12:48]<@jacky> wow
[12:48]<@jacky> where? how?
[12:48]<@jacky> that's scary....
[12:48]<@Calum> perhaps not to that extent but yeah, actual flames
[12:49]<@Calum> One had a faulty SATA connector, the connector and HDD where it was connected set on fire
[12:49]<Immental1200> We got one smoking in the lab the other week.
[12:49]<@jacky> do you ever, after that, leave a computer running unattended?
[12:49]<Immental1200> Scared the hell out of the person who just built it, it was their first time inside a computer ever :D
[12:49]<@Calum> we had a bunch where they were specced totally wrong vut we had to build them...the VRMs were way too weedy for the overclock we had to do, and if I remember rightly about 8 boards either went pop, set on fire, or smoked, and stopped working
[12:49]<@Calum> jacky: all the time, but those are my computers, so I trust them :)
[12:50]<@jacky> what is VRM ?
[12:50]<@Calum> the voltage regulator modules, they regulate power through the board but mainly to the CPU
[12:50]<@jacky> ok on your own, being specc'd correctly, etc.
[12:50]<@Calum> on higher end boards they can generally take more power, and often have heatsinks anyway
[12:50]<@jacky> ah... ok
[12:50]<@Calum> they do run hot, on graphics cards it's not uncommon to see the VRMs hit 90+, at stock
[12:51]<@jacky> !g 90C in F =
[12:51]<@jacky> yep.. that's getting pretty warm
[12:51]<@Calum> that's usually OK though on graphics cards, most are rated to around 120C
[12:51]<@Calum> !g 120c in f
[12:51]<@Calum> ;)
[12:52]<@jacky> you don't hold your finger on that to test it, for long
[12:52]<@jacky> heh
[12:52]<@Calum> heh, nope
[12:59]<Immental1200> I've burnt myself on my graphics card once before
[13:00]<Immental1200> Not my current card, but one I borrowed for a month while mine was being repaired.
[13:00]<@Calum> what card was it?
[13:01]<Immental1200> 8800 GTS
[13:01]<Immental1200> It had an aftermarket heatsink
[13:01]<Immental1200> That got VERY hot.
[13:01]<Immental1200> All copper
[13:01]<@Calum> ah right
[13:03] * jacky (the_kink@mib-9C8578BA.slsbmd.east.verizon.net) Quit (Quit: )
[13:03]<Immental1200> Why does this appear on my facebook feed, and why did this even happen....
[13:03]<Immental1200> http://whitelion.wpengine.netdna-cdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/06/enhanced-buzz-1789-1372101055-1.jpg
[13:04]<@Calum> I don't see anything there...
[13:04]<Immental1200> ?
[13:05]<@Calum> after you said why did this even happen, I just see a blank line?
[13:05]<Immental1200> I actually sent that to the wrong chat.
[13:05]<@Calum> maybe just Mibbit's web client being weird
[13:05]<Immental1200> Oh. Well I sent a link.
[13:05]<@Calum> ah
[13:05]<Immental1200> Ah... Mibbit
[13:05]<Immental1200> It was a .jpg so Mibbit will try to imbed it into the conversation.
[13:05]<Immental1200> And then fail miserably.
[13:06]<@Calum> yeah I've seen it take a little while before, haven't seen it totally fail but it can be annoying
[13:06]<Immental1200> There is one feature I like about the Mibbit client
[13:06]<Immental1200> Just one
[13:06]<Immental1200> How you can click someones name and get it in the input box with a : after it.
[13:06]<Immental1200> THat's it.
[13:07]<@Calum> doesn't seem to work for me, I usually just start typing and hit tab to get that
[13:07]<Immental1200> Calum: OMFG IT WORKS
[13:08]<Immental1200> So, IRC Cloud does that too...
[13:08]<Immental1200> Excellent.
[13:08]<@Calum> heh
[13:08]<@Calum> it's so much quicker than clicking on names
[13:08]<@Calum> Is eem to remember it working that way before, but that was a while ago, haven't actually tried it for literally years
[13:10]<Immental1200> I used to rely on being able to type quickly
[13:10]<Immental1200> And just copy the name
[13:10]<Immental1200> But that got boring
[13:10]<@Calum> yeah
[13:10]<Immental1200> So most of the time I just shortened it to three / five letters of the name.
